I will also be sitting on a few panels and for the first time, I get to be a judge for a costume contest! Bring it on! Dragon Con has been making quite a few guest announcements over the past couple of weeks, and most of them feature one or more cast members from various shows. Today’s announcements feature three members of the cast of The CW’s sci-fi/dystopian series The 100: Jarod Joseph, Sachin Sahel and Lindsey Morgan. The 100 began as a show about survivors who lived on a space station after Earth’s atmosphere was destroyed by a series of nuclear bombs. Now that the space station survivors are back on Earth,…

Harry Potter‘s Chris Rankin announced for Dragon Con

FINALLY!!! Chris Rankin, who played the “Head-Boy-know-it-all” Weasley brother Percy in the Harry Potter films, has been announced as one of the latest additions to the Dragon Con guest list. Movie fans didn’t get to see much of Percy in the films, but book fans know that Percy’s “prodigal son” story arc was one of the great lessons taught in the series – about the importance of family, forgiveness, and unity. Chris is (so far) the only Harry Potter guest confirmed this year. Dragon Con…

On the heels of that devastating season finale last night, it seems that some of the citizens of Westeros will make an appearance in Atlanta this September. The Official Dragon Con Facebook page posted this teaser on their page earlier this afternoon: For those who watched the Season Finale last night, what was your reaction in one word? Perhaps a few cast members will want to talk about it when they join us for #DragonCon2015! About an hour later, they announced that Kristian Nairn has…

Dragon Con 2014: “Growing Up to Save the World” panel

This year at Dragon Con 2014, I had the pleasure of participating in a fan panel titled, “Growing Up to Save the World.” The panel was featured on the Whedonverse track, and the discussion was about the teenage antagonists/protagonists associated in television, film, and literature, and the pressures and consequences they face when the responsibilities of saving the world fall at their feet. One of my co-panelists was Kevin Bachelder of the podcast Tuning Into Sci-Fi TV, and he recorded the panel live, and has now…

So yeah, I’m just a little bit late on my Dragon Con recap…

…I mean, it’s only been two weeks since it ended. I’m still suffering from PCD (post-con depression), combined with the hustle and bustle of real life, but I at least want to talk about some highlights. My Dragon Con was a bit different this year because I didn’t actually get to do much. I spent a whole week prior to Dragon Con SICK, and so by the time it was here, I was physically exhausted. But here are a few highlights from the weekend: Friday: I…

SFPL #190 True Blood and related Dragon Con information

On this week’s episode of the Sci-Fi Party Line Podcast, Cat and I discuss last week’s episode of True Blood, “Almost Home”. We debate the pros (Hanako) and cons (Cat) of a Hoyt/Jessica reunion, the possible consequences of Bill’s decision regarding Sarah Newlin and the cure for Hep-V, and the dramatic and surprising backstory behind the dynamics of the Tara/Lettie Mae relationship. We also decide to place a couple of friendly wagers of what will happen at the end of the series (there’s only one more…

Dragon Con adds “Harry Potter” actresses to guest list

It’s about damn time. After feeling a little bit of despair at the lack of Potter-related guests for this year’s Dragon Con, Potterheads received notice that not one, but two actresses from the series would be appearing at the popular convention held every Labor Day weekend. The official Dragon Con Facebook page announced today that Evanna Lynch and Scarlett Byrne, known to Harry Potter fans as Luna Lovegood and Pansy Parkinson, respectively, would make first-time appearances. Lynch first appeared in the fifth film of the series, Harry Potter…

Interview with Sam Witwer of SyFy’s “Being Human”

How do you play a character fighting to belong to two worlds? In the SyFy Channel series “Being Human“, actor Sam Witwer has to do just that as Aidan, a 207-year old vampire who is struggling to fit in in the human world. And when we say struggling, we mean it. By day, Aidan is a hospital employee determined to appear as normal as possible to the outside world; in reality, he is struggling with his vampire side for dominance, while also being best friends/roommates with…

One-on-One with “Being Human” star Sam Huntington at Dragon*Con 2011

On the SyFy Channel series “Being Human” he plays Josh, the overly-cautious, somewhat insecure werewolf trying desperately to hide in life’)s background in order to avoid revealing his secret. In real life his portrayer, actor Sam Huntington, couldn’t be more the opposite. In person, Huntington is funny, friendly, and generally seems to have a good time – all of the time. Whether he is by himself or wreaking havoc during a Q&A session with his two co-stars, Sam Witwer and Meaghan Rath, Huntington makes it very clear that he…

Dragon*Con, the annual multi-genre fan convention that takes place every Labor Day weekend, has come and gone until next year. Fan Faves from “True Blood”, “Vampire Diaries” Added to Dragon*Con

After more than a week with no updates, Dragon*Con has added some fan favorites from two of the hottest current television series to the guest list. And while you’re drooling over the photo at the left, I will shamelessly admit to adding this blog post with just a teensy bit of lust going on. If you haven’t guessed by now, Joe Manganiello – who plays hot-blooded werewolf Alcide Herveaux on the HBO hit series “True Blood” – has been added to this year’s guest list…
